Eliminating the supervignette costs the state 200 million

How much would the elimination of the supervignette tax on luxury and sports cars cost the taxpayer? The Meloni government, and in particular the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, intends to eliminate the tax that was introduced in 2011 by the executive led by Mario Monti.

It is an operation that has a not insignificant cost for the state coffers: at least 200 million euros, which is what is paid by owners of registered cars with a power output of more than 185 kW and less than 20 years old, which in Italy amount to more than 500,000.

The estimate was calculated net of tax evasion, which is very strong in this sector. If recovered, the figure could more than double, leading to losses, in terms of tax revenue, exceeding 500 million euros.
