We at IZI believe that the challenges of the future of big cities like Rome start from the closest dimension to the people, namely the services they offer to their residents. This is why, together with Andrea Modica, we brought to the stage of Rome Future Week what we have discovered with our two research projects on the #15minutes city.
Essential services profoundly influence our lives – just think that the geography of metro lines also changes the distribution in the city of young people and families, who prefer to live close to the stops. Mobility, on the other hand, is one of the city’s great nodes and one that needs to be worked on more for its innovation. Of the vital importance of public transport in Rome, Giovanni Mottura, president of ATAC SpA, also spoke shortly afterwards on the same stage.
After Andrea Modica’s speech on the panel, it was the turn of our own Elisa Mercanti to present IZILab’s latest research on #innovation in the city of #Rome. We asked an audience of interviewees including #RFW participants.
We discovered that the strengths in the field of innovation in Rome lie in its companies and its university and research centres, but the public sector is not perceived as being as innovative. When talking about the capital and innovation, users think of #events and #training, #food and #startups.
Thanks again to #RFW for giving us the opportunity to talk about the future of our city and how we intend to be part of it.
