At the Monitoring Committee of the Lombardy Region 2014-2020 ERDF Regional Operational Program (co-financed by the EU), the results of the evaluation carried out on the interventions implemented through the ROP were presented. The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is one of the main financial instruments of the EU’s cohesion policy, aims to help bridge the existing disparities between the different levels of development of European regions and improve the quality of life in the less-favored areas.
The interventions implemented through the ROP range from incentives for R&D activities, both in the public and private sectors, to incentives for the competitiveness of the entrepreneurial system, investments aimed at energy efficiency in public buildings and SMEs, the development of sustainable mobility in the regional territory, and urban and territorial development.
In addition to a roundup of the results achieved through the implementation of the 6 axes into which the Program is divided, the presentation focused on the Region of Lombardy’s Inland Areas Strategy, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses and providing insights for the implementation of the new strategies under the new 2021-2027 period.
For the next seven-year period, 3.5 billion euros of structural funds are coming to Lombardy, and the presentation of achievements is one of the opportunities to map out where to continue working.
