What would the citizens of Lombardy vote for if it went to a vote today?
Lombardy will go to a vote on February 12 and 13, 2023, but as of today we can say that the center-right would have the advantage. The center-left, however, also including the 5-Star Movement, could play its cards.
From the poll we conducted, the center-left coalition, made up of the Democratic Party, Europa Verde, Sinistra Italiana, civic lists, M5S and led by candidate Pierfrancesco Majorino, is in fact around 40.1 percent , 5 points below the coalition of the three governing parties, Lega, Forza Italia and Fratelli d’Italia, represented by candidate Attilio Fontana, former governor of Lombardy and running again.
As of today, the pact for the Lombardy regional elections between Pd, in the coalition for Majorino, and M5S led by Giuseppe Conte, is not yet closed but seems very close.
Lombardy, unlike Lazio, which always goes to vote in February and where the fate of this alliance seems to have faded, could be the laboratory of the newfound alliance between Pd and M5S.
Also in the game is the candidate Letizia Moratti for the Third Pole, Carlo Calenda’s Action and Matteo Renzi’s Italia viva, which, however, does not seem to make an impact with its 14.8 percent: it does not erode enough on the right or the left. A bluff?
